Ethical Dillemas between Defense Counsel,
Claims Counsel and the Insured

Nicole is the Director of Employment Practices Liability (EPLI) and Governmental Liability Claims at Darwin National Assurance Company, a member of Allied World Assurance Company. She leads a team of senior claims analysts who are responsible for handling the company’s EPLI, governmental liability,
and private and not-for-profit directors and officers claims.

Prior to assuming this role, Nicole served as a senior claims analyst at Darwin, managing EPLI, governmental entity, directors and officers, and managed care errors and omissions claims. Before joining Darwin, Nicole was a senior claims officer at Chubb Specialty Insurance, where she managed high severity claims nationwide, including mass/class actions, government initiated actions, and litigation involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. Nicole’s previous professional experience includes practicing as a management-side labor and employment attorney with Pepe & Hazard LLP in Hartford, Connecticut. She has been a speaker and panelist at various industry and American Bar Association conferences and seminars.

Nicole earned her B.A. at the University of Connecticut and her J.D. at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she also served as Managing Editor of the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal. She is a member of the bar in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York, and also is admitted to practice
before the United States District Courts for the Districts of Connecticut and Massachusetts.
